No cookies of ours, and no scripts of ours
This site sets no cookies. It ships no JavaScript of its own, and it uses no third-party analytics — no Google Analytics, no pixel, no tag manager, no session recorder. You do not have to accept anything to read a page here, which is why there is no banner asking you to.
What we count when you open a dealer page
One number goes up. The stored row is the dealer’s page name, the date in UTC, and a count. That is the entire row.
Two things about your request are looked at while it is being served and are not written down. Your network address is read once, in memory, and compared against a short list of addresses whose visits should not count — our own testing and monitoring. It is never stored and never returned to any part of the site. Your browser’s user agent string is read in the same way, only to spot traffic that identifies itself as automated, and it is not stored either.
We count this on the server rather than with a tracker for the same reason the site ships no JavaScript: a site whose whole argument is that it can be checked should not be loading somebody else’s script to follow people around.
What we count when you follow a paid link
One number goes up. The stored row is the partner’s identifier, the date, a single word for the kind of page you were on — taken from a fixed list such as “unit” or “model” — and a count. No address, no browser, no session, no cookie, no referrer, and not the address you were sent to.
The page kind is a word from that fixed list and never a page, so there is nothing in the row that could be joined back to a particular reader or to the machine they were reading about. We keep it for one purpose: to know whether a paid link is worth having on the site at all.
Advertising
Any advertisement you see on this site is placed by a third-party advertising network, not chosen by us. Where an advertisement is shown, the network’s own tag runs in your browser, and that network may set cookies and collect information about your visit under its own privacy policy.
We do not control what it collects and we cannot see it. We send it nothing about you: we hold nothing about you to send. Whether this site is carrying advertising today, and who else pays us, is written on how we are paid, which is kept in step with what is actually switched on.
Links that pay us
Some links here are paid, and they say so where you meet them. Following one can tell the merchant that the visit came from this site, which is how they know to pay us. What that merchant then does with your visit is covered by their privacy policy, not this one. You pay the same price either way, and we are paid nothing if you do not buy.
Server records
Requests reach this site through Cloudflare, which sits in front of it and keeps its own records under its own privacy policy. Our own server keeps an ordinary operational log of requests and their status codes; because Cloudflare forwards each request to us from a local address, your address is not in it. Those logs are for keeping the site running and are not used to build anything published here.
There is nothing to sign up for
No accounts, no login, no newsletter, no form that asks for your details. If you write to us, we have your email because you sent it, and we use it to answer you.
We do not sell anything about you
We hold nothing about you to sell, share or trade, and we would not. There is no data broker in this, and none of the counters above can be turned back into a person.
Your rights
Because we store nothing that identifies you, there is nothing for us to look up, export, correct or delete on request — there is no record with your name on it to find. If you believe otherwise, write to us and tell us what you think we hold, and we will look.
Changes
If what we record changes, this page changes first and the date at the top changes with it. If a sentence here ever stops matching what the software does, that is a fault, and we would like to be told.
